My Dallas died on Friday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m.

I last posted on March 18. Things got hectic with getting all the paperwork filed so Gerry and I can retire on May 31 and June 2, respectively.

Then, the unthinkable happened.

My Dallas died on Friday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m.

Gerry had been out to the barn that afternoon and all was fine. Both Doc and Dallas have been in good health and there were no indications anything was wrong.

When Paula went out to feed around 6:30 she said Dallas walked into Doc's stall grabbed a bite of his feed, she shooed him out, and then the next thing she saw was Dallas fell down and began to roll, and then he did it again and again. She called me, I called the vet and Gerry called Lori to come stay with his Mom (who was spending the weekend at our home) and we got to the barn in about 25 minutes after the phone call. The vet arrived when we did, and it was torsion colic. So bad, he wasn't a candidate for surgery. So I made the choice to have him euthanized.

My beautiful boy, gone.

After his heart stopped I sat with him, brushed him, and told him how much I loved him. We watched the sunset together and then Mr. Brown came and got him.

My handsome, perfect horse. Partners for 15 years.
