The Alien Frogs of Florida
Gerry and I were very lucky to be able to stay at a friend's condo while we were in Orlando. (Thank you M + P!) The condo overlooks this pond- see above. It looks normal doesn't it? Well, it isn't. At about 8 o'clock every night until about 2 in the morning we heard this crazy, strange, alien sounding cacophony, which we learned were tree frogs. Here in Delaware, our frogs are far more courteous and refined (as well as more musically gifted.) Delaware frogs take their turn, and every 15 minutes or so we will hear a lovely single note that sounds like an untuned banjo string. A delightful and soothing sound. Not so much in Florida. These little bastards all sing out of tune, at the same time-loudly.
