Poor Beau was a confused horse today. I totally changed up our routine. First, we spent some time in the ring warming up and doing a little back-up and side passing (well, what amounts to side passing for us right now.) Then we went down the scary driveway and into the even scarier woods. After only a couple minutes in the woods we turned around and went back across the road and back up to the ring- taking a long time to do it with frequent stops for a little backing up and just looking at the sights. Then we did it again, and again, being sure to change up our route a little each time.
What Beau is used to doing is: tacking up in barn, mounting, and head straight out on the the trail. All is good until we turn back for home, then its jiggy, blowing, gotta get my motor running and get home time. So, I'm changing things up on my boy. If I get the jiggy stuff (didn't happen but once today) then (depending on the terrain) we will back-up, or circle, or turn around and walk back out until he settles down. Bear in mind, his jiggy behavior really isn't all that bad, but I want to nip this before it gets worse.
