Meet Casper, my favorite barn cat. I'm mostly a dog and horse person, but this cat has really got a tight hold on my heart. He has a one blue and one green eye, and he purrs like a locomotive.
And he is beautiful. Sigh.
I had a cat once. We went to visit my sisters, who were sharing an apartment in Denver at the time, and they announced to my parents that my very belated birthday gift from them was a kitten. Yeah, poor animal starved child that I was who wanted any pet desperately and they dangle a cute kitten in front of me. I was in love. Of course, my parents wouldn't let me keep it. My mother HATED cats and had no intention of driving back to Illinois with a kitten in tow. The vacation was ruined (for me) and I learned an important life lesson about trust.
