Old Work

Over the next 5 months I'm going to be rolling out a new brand for MJ Arden.

ACK, I HATE the whole idea of branding because it connotates such superficial, barely veiled commercialism wrapped up in alot of hocus pocus marketing gibberish. (Yes, I work in marketing and am fed up with words taking the place of action...if I see another mission statement, positioning statement or other such silliness...... o.k., end of rant.)

So, let me try this again..over the next 5 months I'm going to be rolling out a new layout for this blog along with a new masthead, and if the stars are aligned properly at the same time I'll be opening up a shop on ETSY. (Ahh, I feel much better now.)

Since so much will be new, I thought I might spend the rest of April and perhaps even a bit of May doing a blogging show and tell of some really old artwork, photos, and the like.

To start this online retrospective off, is this pencil sketch that I did of my mother when I was about 19 years old. It's graphite and colored pencil on paper. What I love best about this sketch is how I used negative space, I'm not usually good at that, but I was this time. I love to draw. And I haven't had time to do any drawing in years, OK, probably even decades. It falls into that category of things "I'll do when I have time." I spent hours and hours and hours drawing as a child. I miss it.

  1. Hi. I haven't visited your blog for ages. Kind of caught up with political stuff. But I enjoyed seeing this and your Easter photo. I see you haven't been too active here, either. Hope you are well. Miss you.
