Weekends mornings, weather permitting, Gerry and I always have breakfast outside on our deck. Now on weekdays we eat very healthy- usually some fresh fruit and a cup of cereal (no milk, no sugar.) But weekends, well, that's something else all together. This past weekend I made a favorite recipe from my youth, strawberry shortcake. The shortcake that I make has a lovely rough texture and is just slightly sweet. I top off this decadence with whippped cream and a sprinkle of toasted almonds. A cup of coffee, bacon, and some melon and viola, a yummy breakfast!
