I knew very little about fox hunting until I read Rita Mae Brown's "Sister Jane" series.
There are seven books in this series and I've read them all and learned everything I know about foxes from them- and what fascinating creatures they are. A bit of foxy trivia for today:
The red fox is protected in every state in which it is present (all except Hawaii), in contrast to its status as vermin in the UK.
The red fox, Vulpes vulpes, is not a native animal. It was brought to the United States in colonial times by the British who had grown tired of riding after native gray fox, only to have them climb, cat-like, up a tree.
